The June GCSCA meeting was called to order by Carole Thuringer on June 20, 2011 at 7:50 pm at the Cannon Ball in Cannon Falls, MN.
Roll call was as follows: Cannon Falls (Carole Thuringer, Beth & Tony Banitt, Donna Steffenhagen), Saddlelite (Jen Valek) and Pine Island (Andrea Plumb) – present.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes were reviewed and accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report:
Beth & Carole reconciled most of the transactions on the old account. There was no record of Hay Creek paying for the GCSCA books or numbers or St Croix’s numbers. There was a cash deposit of $45.00 and a withdrawal on the same day with no notation. It appears that there was approximately $300 more spent than was brought in ($4000/expense, $3700/income).
Saddlelite still owes their GCSCA dues ($75.00). Pine Island owes for their numbers and books. (Andrea paid for them and will get reimbursement from her club).
There is a monthly service fee at Citizens (where the current account is at) and only 1 month history is available on line. Beth is checking in to setting up an account at Merchant’s Bank. There are branches near each of the member’s locations so accessibility should be no problem.
Carole Thuringer submitted a bill for $98.25 for the GCSCA numbers. Motion to pay the bill was made by Andrea Plumb and seconded by Beth Banitt.
The cost for the copying pages for the GCSCA books hasn’t been tallied yet. Carole should have it ready for the next meeting.
The ending checking balance on 6/19/11 was $1815.37.
NEW BUSINESS:
Carole will order the ribbons with the GCSCA logo for the Annual Show. Medals will be ordered for 1st place.
There is a possibility that Espana Horse Products may be donating sample products that will be awarded at the Annual Show. Their products are ‘all natural’.
The Royalty Contest is just around the corner. The contest is at the Annual Show which is July 30th & 31st in Cannon Falls. Please encourage your members to run for this position.
Just a reminder to the GCSCA Delegates. Send any questions you’d like to submit for the contestant interview to Carole ASAP.
Tentative dates for the Awards Banquet are November 5th, 12th, or 19th. Check with the members to see which date is the best fit. Also, we need your ideas for location, menu, etc.
Overnight camping will be allowed at the Cannon Falls arena for their shows. There are NO fires allowed.
Has anyone attended shows outside of the GCSCA ones this season? Are there any ideas for new clubs to join GCSCA? At the meeting there were suggestions for contacting “Sunnyside(?)” a new club in Rosemount, and the Lucky Clover Saddle Club in Farmington (they may be having another show in August). We need your feedback!
Are there any by-law corrections/additions/changes? It’s not too early to be working on them.
The next GCSCA meeting will be August 4th at the Cannon Ball at 7:30 pm. This change in the date was made because it will be after all the GCSCA shows and we should have a good idea as to the budget we’ll have for the Awards and Banquet.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Donna Steffenhagen
GCSCA Secretary
